Clean yield maps can be used to development management zones. Maps can be used for variable rate application of phosphorus and potassium if cleaned properly. A way to average clean yield maps for different crops is to subtract the minimum yield from all values then normalize (divide by) the maximum yield so all maps will have a value from 0 to 1. The example below shows management development for four consecutive years of yield maps (corn-soybeans-corn-soybeans) that have been normalized in this manner and averaged.
