Tile Mapping

High resolution imagery of fields 2 to 3 days after a rain event (at least one inch) can effectively map tile lines as the ground will be dryer above the tiles (Naz et al., 2009; pdf). The image should be acquired of soil; less residue is better. A shapefile can be drawn of the tile lines (over the imagery) that can be read by your farm software. The image below is suitable for tile mapping and shows tile spaced at about 40 feet.
